Lake Superior Agate Pendant
Pure magic…
About a billion years ago some pretty cool magic happened. These stones were formed during lava eruptions that occurred in Minnesota way back then. Lake Superior agate is stained by iron and that red from the iron is it’s predominant color. It is a considered the most rare of all agates and is highly treasured. I feel lucky to have gotten 3 pieces and this is the largest one!
This is not a dainty pendant….and I love that about it. I made a home for the gorgeous stone in fine and sterling silver with a shadow box design. The frame style really highlights the stone and I was able to hand stamp mountains and tiny suns all around it.
I gave the back a peekaboo tree window and the whole pendant is finished with a rich patina and soft polish. It measures nearly 1 5/8” wide, is 2” tall, including the bail and comes on a generous chocolate brown leather piece, adjustable to your preferred length.
