Silver Goodness 5R Cuff
Repurposed, Recycled, Redeemed, Reloved and Reclaimed…
That is what the 5R stands for if you are unfamiliar with this design style. I take old, broken and discarded silver jewelry, leftover scraps from other work and pieces that didn’t make the cut and melt them down to be made into something lovable again.
The process involves lots of fire and sometimes rolling out the silver over and over to get a new usable slab of silver. In this case, I left the silver in mostly chunk form and worked with it in a very organic shape. A bezel was created to make a home for it and it was set just as I would a regular gemstone cabochon from that point.
I created a sterling silver cuff band, adding texture and giving the focal portion a place to shine.
The cuff measures 6” long, is 4mm wide and 1.5mm thick. The chunky silver section with it’s hand stamped design measures nearly 3/4 wide and is just shy of 1” tall. It weighs 18 grams and the entire piece is finished with a rich patina and soft polish to highlight all the details.
